TRBA Meeting Highlights Local Business and Community Updates

The Two Rivers Business Association (TRBA) held its member meeting on Thursday, May 4, 2023, discussing various updates and initiatives aimed at promoting local businesses and improving the community. Among the highlights were reports on marketing and membership initiatives, a guest speaker sharing insights on mental health in the workplace, and updates from various community organizations.

Donna Firman, leader of both NAMI Manitowoc County and Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County, provided valuable insights on recognizing signs of suicidal behavior and other mental health cries for help in the workplace, along with strategies for maintaining good mental health. Additionally, updates from the city council, police department, and other community organizations emphasized their efforts in supporting mental health and wellness initiatives.

The meeting also touched on the success of recent events, such as the prom at Sepia and a community service day that involved high schoolers cleaning up and planting trees, and repairing steps for a community member with physical needs.

Other announcements included the TR school district art show on display at the Lester Public Library, upcoming Teen activities, and free guided hikes on National Trails Day. The meeting adjourned with the invitation to attend the next meeting on June 1 at the Cool City Brewing Company, with a recommendation to invite a business colleague or student to attend.

Overall, the TRBA meeting highlighted the importance of local businesses working together for the betterment of the community, with a focus on promoting mental health and wellness, community involvement, and economic development.
